Leme Beach β Rio de Janeiro
The beginning of Copacabana beach between Leme hill and Avenida Princesa Isabel is actually called Leme beach. There are not so many tourists here, the beach is more popular among locals, especially families.
The history of Leme neighborhood began in 1858 when the royal family came to the beach to watch whales and made a picnic there. Before that, only a fort, a small church and a few farms were located in Leme territory. After the royal picnic the place became very popular among other families and it lead to construction of the whole neighborhood.
In 1950s Leme neighborhood was the center of Cariocan nightlife with its glamorous night clubs, visited by many local celebrities.
Rio de Janeiro is famous for its spectacular nature, carnival celebrations, samba and other music, sunny beaches (such as Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon), hotels, good-natured and hospitable lifestyle of its inhabitants. Among the most prominent sights of the city is the giant statue of Jesus the Redeemer (Cristo Redentor) on Corcovado Mountain, Sugarloaf Mountain with a cable car, Sambodrome β a huge parade center used during the Brazilian Carnival, Maracana Stadium, one of the largest in the world. Rio de Janeiro is home to the largest forest area within the city, the Tijuca Forest (Floresta da Tijuca).
And my walk will be on Leblon beach.
If the beach for you is primarily a place for sports activities, choose Leblon. Real lovers of beach games gather here, tired of the Copacabana and Ipanema pontoons. Local tourists who avoid the crowds also move here. Leblon is a new trend!
Have a good viewing everyone! Donβt forget to subscribe and stay tuned for new videos!
